Jones

I started Brogdon Construction in 1978 with an old truck and a few hand tools. I mainly did small repairs in the Laurel and Jones County area. I worked for several years in south Laurel in a block grant program funded by the federal government. This program ended when Ronald Reagan was elected President, but by then I had learned to read commercial blueprints and had received my Certificate of Responsibility which allowed me to bid on projects over $75,000.00.

The next ten to twelve years, I built many new homes and I also completed several large commercial projects. At age 42, I saw a need for foundation repairs in the Jones County and Laurel area. By now, I was very well established and had a great reputation in the area.

In my late 50s, I made a move from advertising in the local papers to advertising with WDAM (our local TV station). I had no idea what this was going to do for my business. We went from working jobs in Jones County to working the nine county area that WDAM TV covers. A few years later, we built a website that gave us even more exposure to the nine county area and south Mississippi. I am now 76 years old and I still enjoy and look forward to going to work everyday. God has truly blessed my life and guided me through this journey of building a very successful business.
